We welcomed the return of some of our absentees and the immediate improvement was apparent right from the kick off. The visitors had no answer to our rampant pack and a big score looked to be on its way. Just before half time however our old problems returned as a couple of silly penalties, and two needless losses of possession gifted the visitors a try they never looked like scoring up to that point. This was a warning of what was to come, as we let slip a 32 v 4 half time lead and fell to a last minute defeat against a side who looked just as surprised as the fans behind the sticks did. A constant stream of needless penalties, forward passes and knock ons throughout the second period meant we were starved of possession. On the two occasions when we did complete our sets we scored a try, and then threatened their line on the last tackle. If ever a team shot itself in the foot, this was it. We need to learn that discipline is a major part of the game of Rugby League and that without it success on the pitch becomes almost impossible.
Even now, four days after the event, I still find it hard to believe that we threw the two points away !!
